While the decision was taken during a meeting of the Executive Council (EC) of the university on March 28, 2026, an official notification regarding this decision has been issued by the university today. As per the university, the fund will be collected from all students of the university as well as all colleges affiliated to it.
Prof Mahavir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, HPU, said that the fund would be charged from students only once at the time of admission.
He said that the fund would be used for the development of infrastructure and improvement of facilities being provided to the students. The VC also said that all accounts in respect of this fund would be maintained by the Finance wing of the university.
Earlier in 2016, the university had also issued a similar notification under which Rs 500 were to be collected by students who have been admitted to non-subsidised seats, Rs 250 from students admitted in subsidised seats and Rs 100 from students belonging to BLA and IRDP. However, with the issuance of new notification, the old notification has now been cancelled.
The university has been making efforts to strengthen its income sources to improve the quality of education. In this direction, the university also hiked the fees of programmes being offered by it from the next academic session, a notification regarding which was issued earlier this month.
