The police said that in the first incident, 37-year-old Paramjeet, a resident of Ghar Bahi village, allegedly consumed a poisonous substance on Wednesday evening while under the influence of alcohol. After his condition deteriorated, he was taken to the Civil Hospital, Baijnath, where doctors declared him dead. The police handed over the body to the bereaved family members after a postmortem on Friday afternoon.
In the second case, 28-year-old Aniket of Langhu village allegedly consumed poison on Thursday afternoon when he was drunk. He was taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Aniket was unmarried and was the sole support of his widowed mother. His sisters are married. He was engaged in private work.
Station House Officer (SHO), Baijnath, Yadesh Thakur said that an investigation was underway in both matters.
