Pankaj Thakur, Assistant Director of Fisheries, Bilaspur, said that an undersized fishing net was confiscated from the two suspects at around 6 am by a team led by Fisheries Officer Surender Patial. He added that the department has been conducting regular inspection drives against illegal fishing activities in Gobind Sagar lake and warned that strict action would be taken against those violating the rules.
He appealed to fishermen and local residents to follow the Himachal Pradesh Fisheries Rules and cooperate in conserving the reservoir’s fisheries resources.
Thakur further said that the team also inspected ongoing fishing activities and boats operating in the reservoir and warned fishermen against illegal fishing practices and the use of banned nets in Gobind Sagar lake.
