The repeated changes have caused significant disruption. Tanya, a passenger who had booked a Delhi-Kullu flight for May 24, saw her plans collapse after her flight was cancelled. Another traveller, Amrit, reported a similar experience, with his May 10 Kullu-Delhi flight being scrapped, forcing him to make last-minute alternative arrangements. Anjana, who travelled on April 25, said her direct Delhi-Kullu flight was abruptly rerouted via Jaipur, extending the journey by more than two hours.
Passengers, particularly those planning international travel during the winter season, have also raised concerns about the lack of long-term scheduling. While most airlines release flight plans up to a year in advance, Kullu-bound schedules are currently available only till October, making planning difficult and unreliable.
The situation has worsened with further cuts across other routes. Flights between Amritsar and Kullu have been suspended entirely, while services to Dehradun have been reduced to just two days a week. Jaipur flights now operate only on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with inconsistent return availability. Meanwhile, the long-promised Chandigarh service has failed to take off even after six months of discussion, and a proposed Kullu-Jammu route under the UDAN scheme remains pending.
Tourism stakeholders have expressed concern over the shrinking connectivity, especially during the peak summer season. Previously, Alliance Air operated daily flights between Kullu and Delhi from April to October, often adding extra services during high demand periods. The current reduction, they warn, could adversely impact tourist inflow and the local economy.
Travel agents have also flagged steep ticket prices, with fares on the Kullu-Delhi route frequently crossing Rs 24,400 during summer. Industry representatives argue that reduced seat availability is driving up prices, further discouraging travellers.
Kullu Travel Agents Association leaders have urged the airline to restore daily services and introduce additional flights, particularly on the Kullu-Chandigarh-Delhi circuit. They maintain that demand is strong enough to sustain multiple daily operations, which could stabilise fares and improve accessibility. Until then, passengers remain at the mercy of an uncertain and increasingly constrained flight network.
