Calling youth the country’s greatest strength, the Governor said India’s progress towards becoming a developed and self-reliant nation depends on their active participation. He emphasised that innovation-driven learning and a commitment to excellence would enable the next generation to contribute meaningfully to society.
Gupta lauded Himachal Dental College as a leading institution in the state, noting its contributions to education, research, community service and health awareness. He said the college was not only producing skilled dental professionals but also shaping responsible and compassionate citizens.
Highlighting the importance of oral health, he said dental care is an integral component of overall well-being and stressed that it is the duty of young medical professionals to ensure quality healthcare reaches even the most remote areas. He encouraged students to uphold ethical values and compassion alongside professional competence.
The Governor also appreciated the college’s outreach initiatives, including free dental camps in rural regions and anti-tobacco awareness campaigns. “The true identity of an educational institution lies not only in academic excellence but also in its contribution to society,” he remarked.
On the occasion, meritorious students were honoured for their achievements in academics and sports. Among academic awardees, Adharika Gupta and Suhani Kashyap from BDS first year were recognised, while Nishita Gupta secured top honours in BDS second year. In third year, Akshita Joshi, Vasundhara and Akshat were felicitated, and in the final year, Prashant, Jagisha and Sara Puri received awards.
MLA Rakesh Jamwal, former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sohan Lal Thakur and other dignitaries attended the event.
