The incidents, reported from Thural, Gopalpur, Bir and the Baglamukhi Temple area, have sparked debate over public safety and the ability of law enforcement agencies to respond promptly to emergencies during the peak tourist season. The first incident was reported from Thural, where staff members of a Volvo bus travelling from Baijnath to Delhi were allegedly assaulted by a group of tourists from Punjab following a roadside altercation. The case prompted protests from transport operators, who demanded strict action against those responsible. The police have registered a case and arrested three persons, who remain in judicial custody. In another incident reported from Gopalpur, a local tea stall owner, Kartar Chand, was allegedly assaulted by tourists from Uttar Pradesh. Local residents alleged that although a complaint was lodged, the matter was later settled through a compromise between the parties.
