The meet witnessed fierce competition in various track and field events, including races, high jump, long jump and shot put. More than 1,000 athletes from schools across the district participated in the event.
Outstanding individual performances were recognised across multiple age categories. In the open category, Jitender was named best athlete among boys, while Diksha claimed the top honour for girls. In the U-20 category, Roshan Kumar Chauhan (boys) and Muskan (girls) emerged victorious. Swastik Prashar (boys) and Bhawna (girls) excelled in the U-18 section. International Kabbadi fame and Kullu District Sports Officer Kavita Thakur graced the occasion as the chief guest, presenting medals and certificates to the winners. Addressing the gathering, she emphasised that sports are an integral part of students’ lives and encouraged children to aim high for the Olympics and other international events. “Everything is achievable with determination and hard work,” she added.
KDAA general secretary Yuvraj welcomed the chief guest and dignitaries. He announced that the medal winners will now compete in the state-level athletic meet scheduled to be held in Bilaspur in June. The annual district meet, he noted, continues to serve as a vital platform for nurturing young sporting talent in the region.
