He said this while addressing a gathering during the closing ceremony of the 14th District Shimla Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Sports Meet (Women), held at ITI, Chaura Maidan here from April 24 to 27, in which he was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the project will be implemented under the Urban Development Plan costing Rs 1,200 crore, for which around 15 locations have been identified.
“The construction of hydraulic parking will benefit the town’s traffic system and will provide more parking spaces for residents,” added the minister.
He also said the Centre has assured the state government that priority projects worth Rs 1,200 crore will be approved immediately upon submission of detailed project reports (DPRs).
“The proposed projects include decongestion in key areas of Shimla, the development of hydraulic parking systems, the laying of underground utility pipes and planned urban townships such as the Kangra Aerocity,” he said.
Laying emphasis on sports, the minister said sports are essential for all-round development. “Educational institutions produce outstanding athletes, bringing glory to the state and nation. Skill education is promoted in ITIs. This provides employment opportunities in both the government and private sectors, while also offering immense potential for self-employment,” said the minister.
He also added that mastering skills will make every student self-reliant. “ITIs across the state provide skill education equipped with modern facilities and through campus placements, ITI students are being offered employment in multinational companies” said Singh.
The minister announced a grant of Rs 41,000 from the MLA fund for organising the sports meet. He also announced an incentive of Rs 15,000 to ITI, Shimla for its outstanding performance in the sports meet.
Later, he felicitated the winners of various sports on the occasion. Some of the winners he felicitated included, Government Industrial Training Institute Mashobra for winning the Volleyball competition, ITI Shimla for winning Kabaddi competition and Jubbal for being the runner-up.
