According to the corporation, 229 garbage collection points have been set up across Shimla. Residents have been asked to bring household waste to the designated collection points, where municipal vehicles will collect the garbage.

Bhuwan Sharma, Joint Commissioner of the SMC, said corporation vehicles would remain stationed at the collection points until 10 am each day to facilitate waste collection. “Maintaining cleanliness in the town is the corporation’s priority, and appropriate measures have been taken to ensure this,” he said.

Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan, who personally participated in garbage collection efforts, said additional vehicles would be deployed across the town from Monday onwards. He added that the corporation was also planning to engage more labourers to strengthen waste collection services.

“There will be no compromise in maintaining cleanliness in the state’s capital,” the Mayor said.

Addressing the demands of the SEHB Society workers, Chauhan said an Annual General Meeting (AGM) had been convened for June 4, during which the workers’ demands would be discussed and considered.
