The accused, identified as Kuldeep Thakur alias Monu (36), was a native of Sarskan village in Mandi district, however, was residing in Lower Vikasnagar in Shimla.
According to the police, the accused was involved in drug trading since a few years and several cases under the NDPS Act were registered against him. He was arrested in Shimla with heroin three times in 2025 alone.
The accused was first arrested with 14 g of heroin on July 13, 2023.
He was again arrested on February 18, 2025 and the Shimla police seized 3.36 g heroin and Rs 1,50,000 cash.
In another arrest dated June 27, 2025, the Shimla police seized 22 g heroin and on August 19, 2025, 5.5 g chitta and Rs 40,000 cash were recovered from him.
Confirming the report, Shimla SSP Gaurav Singh said that taking cognisance of his continuous involvement in drug trade as well as his tendency of repetition of crime and active role in drug trafficking, action against him under the PIT NDPS was approved by the state government, following which he was arrested.
Following the legal process, the accused was lodged in Model Central Jail, Kanda.
