Shimla police arrest Punjab-based drug supplier, 2 others with 196 g chitta, 47 g ice

The accused have been identified as Samar Singh, alias Tiger (32), a native of Ferozepur currently residing in Kharar, Punjab; Avantika Negi (19), a resident of Dhalli in Shimla; and Pradyuman (20), a resident of Taknawal village in Theog subdivision of Shimla district.

Addressing a press conference, Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abhishek Dhiman said on May 29, district police conducted a raid at a house in Dhalli based on a specific tip-off.

During the operation, police recovered around 35 grams of heroin and 20 grams of methamphetamine from the possession of Avantika Negi and Pradyuman. Following the seizure, both were arrested and a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The ASP said subsequent investigation and technical analysis helped police establish backward linkages in the supply chain, leading investigators to Samar Singh alias Tiger, who is suspected to be a key supplier in the interstate drug network.

“Investigation revealed that the two accused had procured the contraband from Tiger. Acting on the leads, a police team was dispatched to Punjab, where the accused was arrested. During the operation, police recovered 131 grams of chitta, 27 grams of ice and Rs 60,400 in cash from his possession,” Dhiman said.

With the latest recovery, the total seizure in the case stands at approximately 196 grams of heroin and 47 grams of methamphetamine.

Police said further investigation is underway to identify other members of the trafficking network and uncover additional links in the interstate drug supply chain.
