Speaking at the inauguration, the CMO highlighted that Samphia has been successfully operating a District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) in collaboration with the Regional Hospital, Kullu, for the past three years. At the centre, many children have been receiving free therapy services.
He expressed confidence that the new centre would be highly beneficial for children in the region, especially those with special needs.
The CMO commended Samphia’s ongoing efforts in the fields of disability and child development, noting that the organisation has been consistently working to reach services to underprivileged children in society. He extended best wishes to the Samphia family for the new initiative and emphasised that such efforts play a crucial role in bringing about positive change in the community.
During the inauguration ceremony, a havan and puja were performed, and children enthusiastically participated in various recreational and developmental activities. Parents and children alike displayed great excitement throughout the event.
Dr Shruti Bhardwaj, executive director of Samphia, said the new centre would be operated with CSR support from the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), the Azim Premji Foundation and AD Hydro Power Limited. She explained that the centre has been developed using modern and advanced occupational therapy techniques, ensuring that children have access to the same quality of services that are typically available only in larger cities. She added that the centre also features a special indoor park for children, which will help make the therapy process more effective and child-friendly.
Dr Bhardwaj added that in the coming days, Samphia’s additional services, including physiotherapy and the organisation’s office setup, will also be relocated to the new centre.
She stated that the primary objective of the centre was to promote the holistic development of children, with experts working to enhance their physical, mental, social and behavioural abilities.
