Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice-Chancellor of the university, inaugurated the revamped facility in the presence of Sanjay Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Himachal Pradesh; Harjinder Singh Bhatti, Director Postal Service (Himachal Pradesh); and Sandeep Dharmani, Superintendent of Post Offices, Solan.
This youth-centric N-GEN Post Office would provide modern facilities, including Wi-Fi connectivity, cafeteria, mini library, digital payment options and modern comfortable seating spaces, along with all regular postal services. To encourage interaction and recreation among the youth, indoor gaming facilities like chess had also been incorporated. The existing Post Office had been revamped and shifted to a new location next to the university’s main gate, making it more accessible and convenient for students, faculty, staff and locals.
Chandel said that the N-GEN Post Office initiative of the Department of Posts was a visionary step. He expressed hope that the students of the university and the youth at large would benefit from this modern and technology-enabled Post Office and actively utilise the wide range of services offered by the Department of Posts. He also appreciated the work of the department in connecting the country through its services.
