The warning covers all districts except Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti, with forecasts of light to moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated places.

The department has predicted continued light rainfall in the middle and higher hills from May 6 to May 8. While weather conditions are expected to remain dry on May 9, another spell of rainfall is likely from May 10 onwards due to a fresh western disturbance approaching the western Himalayan region.

Temperatures are also expected to rise in the coming days, with minimum temperatures likely to increase by 2°C to 7°C and maximum temperatures by 3°C to 10°C.

Over the past 24 hours, light rainfall was recorded in several parts of the state. Shimla received 17.2 mm rain, Solan 15 mm, Una 14 mm, Mandi 13.6 mm and Bilaspur 8 mm.

Minimum temperatures dropped by 2°C to 9°C, ranging between 3°C and 21°C, while maximum temperatures fell by 3°C to 11°C, ranging between 16°C and 31°C.

Among major stations, Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 18.8°C, Dharamsala 27.1°C, Manali 16°C, Kangra and Mandi 26.2°C each, Solan 26°C, Sundernagar 25.6°C, Nahan 26.8°C, Bhuntar 20.3°C and Kalpa 14.9°C.

Una was the hottest place in the state at 31°C, while Tabo in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest, recording a minimum temperature of 3.5°C.
