The poor condition of internal roads, especially after recent weather-related damage, has added to public dissatisfaction. Besides, inadequate sanitation, inefficient waste management and insufficient street lighting continue to cause trouble to locals.
Unemployment among the youth is another key issue raised during the campaign. Many residents feel that local representatives should actively work with the authorities to create opportunities and support skill development initiatives. Healthcare access, especially at the primary level, is also an area where voters expect visible improvement.
“We are looking for a representative who is accessible and responsive. Development should be visible not just promised,” says a local resident, reflecting the general mood of the electorate. Voters have made it clear that performance and accountability will play a crucial role in determining their choice.
The election authorities have confirmed that the scrutiny of the nomination papers has been completed and the final list of candidates is now in place. In all 15 wards of the Municipal Corporation, 64 candidates are in the fray, indicating a competitive and vibrant democratic process.
Meanwhile, officials have assured the residents that the repair of damaged roads will begin soon. The tarring of roads is expected to be completed within a week, subject to favorable weather conditions. Political observers say that Ward No. 5 is headed for a close finish.
