Over 52% voter turnout recorded till 1 pm in Mandi urban local body polls

Polling is being conducted across the 14 wards of the Mandi Municipal Corporation as well as in several urban local bodies including municipal councils and nagar panchayats of the district. Voting is scheduled to continue till 3 pm.

Among the urban bodies, the highest turnout till early afternoon was recorded in Rewalsar with 63.06 per cent, closely followed by Karsog at 62.99 per cent. Other polling percentages recorded were:

Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan said the polling process had remained peaceful, impartial and smooth across all urban local bodies. He said administrative and police officials were maintaining continuous monitoring to ensure free and fair elections.

Officials noted that voters had been arriving at polling stations in large numbers throughout the day, reflecting strong public enthusiasm for the civic polls.

An “Ideal Polling Booth” has also been set up in the Samkhetar ward of Mandi Municipal Corporation, equipped with special voter-friendly facilities. A crèche facility has been arranged at the booth where ASHA and Anganwadi workers are taking care of small children, allowing parents to cast their votes conveniently.

To assist elderly and specially-abled voters, volunteers have been deployed at polling stations to provide necessary support and guidance.

The district administration has appealed to all eligible voters to reach polling stations before the closing time of 3 pm and exercise their democratic right. Voters have also been advised to carry a valid identity proof for verification at polling booths.
