A spokesperson of the state government stated that on the directions of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Education Department is in the final stage of commencing all three streams in the newly affiliated CBSE schools across the state.
He said that the CM, recently sought a detailed report from the Education Department, which revealed that out of 156 schools 18 presently do not offer all three streams. “Taking note of the matter, he directed the department to ensure that all CBSE-affiliated schools provide complete stream options to students,” said the spokesperson.
The schools identified include Government Senior Secondary Schools at Kihar, Bara, Barsar, Batran, Sohari, Chadhiar, Kunsal, Lohardi, Saleti, Kolni Dhalwan, Upper Lambagaon, Nichar, Sarahan (Kullu), Baldeyan, Sainj, Nankhari, Kaffota and Badhera.
“These schools were not offering neither Commerce nor Science stream. To strengthen academic infrastructure and expand educational opportunities, Science and Commerce streams will now be introduced in all these schools from the current academic session. Acting promptly on the directions of the Chief Minister, the Education Department has initiated all necessary procedural and codal formalities to ensure the smooth and effective commencement of these streams. A detailed notification will be issued in this regard shortly,” he said.
“The initiative aims to provide quality and comprehensive education opportunities to students across the state, particularly in rural areas. The state government has already granted approval for 156 schools to function under the CBSE pattern as part of its broader commitment to strengthening the education system in Himachal Pradesh,” said the spokesperson.
He further said that the CM has also directed the Education Department to ensure the availability of all required teaching and other staff in these institutions so that students receive quality education in a well-equipped academic environment.
