According to the State Election Commission, Himachal Pradesh, Kangra district recorded the highest number of nominations at 269. This was followed by Mandi with 214 nominations. Shimla recorded 167 nominations, Solan 158, Una 137, Kullu 125, Chamba 113, Bilaspur 96, Sirmaur 92, and Hamirpur 55.
The Election Commission had announced the schedule for panchayati raj institutions and urban local body elections on April 21, 2026, with May 2 set as the last date for filing nominations.
A total of 721 nominations were filed on May 2 alone, while 550 were received on April 30 and 155 on April 29.
Surjeet Singh Rathore, Secretary, State Election Commission, said that the scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on May 4, 2026, by the respective Returning and Assistant Returning Officers at 10 am.
“Candidates can withdraw their nominations on May 6. Polling will be held on May 17, 2026, from 7 am to 3 pm through EVMs,” he added.
