Notably, Mahajan undertook the initiative even before the official oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected councillors, funding the facility from her own resources as a gesture of public service.
The potable cold-water facility will benefit shoppers, students and passers-by, particularly during the summer months.
Mahajan said this was her second term as councillor from Ward No. 2 and that she remained committed to public welfare. She said that, as during her previous tenure, she would continue to utilise her councillor’s honorarium for civic amenities and welfare initiatives and would also contribute personal funds whenever required.
She reiterated her commitment to addressing local issues and improving basic amenities for residents. The initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents.
