The accused has been identified as Govind (40), a native of Surkhet district, Nepal, while the victim has been identified as Suraj Anchal Rapti (23), a native of Nepal, presently residing in Rohru.
According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday, in Rohru market, when Suraj, who worked as a porter in the said place, was confronted by Govind, who he said was under the influence of alcohol.
The accused stabbed Suraj with a sharp object on his chest and waist, due to which he sustained serious injuries. The accused then fled from the scene.
Police team reached the spot as soon as it received the information and shifted the victim to the civil hospital, from where he has been shifted to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla for further treatment.
Police also examined the scene and collected crucial evidence. A manhunt was launched to nab the accused, who was later arrested by the police.
Confirming the report, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, Gaurav Singh said a case under Sections 126(2), 118(1), 109(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 has been registered against the accused and further investigation is going on. He said the reason behind the incident is ascertained.
