He said that such recurring incidents pointed towards the existence of an organised mafia involved in examination paper leaks. “The Union Government must take the matter with utmost seriousness as such incidents not only shake the confidence of students but also tarnish the image of the country,” he added.
Shanta Kumar urged the Central Government to launch a strong and coordinated crackdown on those involved in examination malpractices. He described paper leaks as an extremely serious crime that destroyed the future of lakhs of young aspirants and undermined public faith in the system.
He said such incidents were more damaging than many other criminal offences because they shattered the morale of deserving students and weakened the credibility of institutions. He added that only a handful of accused were usually arrested in such cases while larger networks remained untouched.
The former CM said it was difficult to estimate how many examinations in the country may had been compromised due to such organised malpractices over the years.
