A massive crowd gathered to witness the grand finale, which featured a spirited contest between the two teams. Nagchala Balh XI, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and posted an impressive total of 201 runs in 20 overs. The innings was powered by a brilliant knock from Himanshu Thakur, who scored a blazing 77 runs off just 35 balls. Saini also contributed significantly with a solid knock of 64 runs, helping the team set a strong target.
In response, Ghata XI fought hard but managed only 174 runs in the allotted 20 overs, falling short by 27 runs. Despite some resistance from their batting line-up, they were unable to chase down the challenging target set by Nagchala Balh XI.
The bowlers of the winning team played a crucial role in securing the title. Raghav Bali delivered an excellent spell, taking three wickets for 32 runs in four overs. Thakur capped an fine all-round performance by also claiming three wickets, making him the standout performer of the match.
The tournament was graced by chief guest Prof Radhika Chopra, along with several distinguished guests, including district cricket association president Ajay Rana, Principal of MLSM College Dr Suman Kumari Katoch, former principals Padam Singh Guleria and Kamleshwar Thakur, and Head of Department Lokesh Sharma. Prominent personalities such as international sportsperson Raghav Dhawan, former cricketers Harender Sen and Dinesh Sharma, Manoj Sharma, Raj Purohit, Tekchand, social worker Inder, Tara Pansari, and Abhinav Guleria were also present. The event was organised under the supervision of committee secretary Ravikant Jamwal.
Nagchala Balh XI was awarded a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while the runners-up Ghata XI received Rs 50,000 and a trophy. Individual awards were also distributed, with Gaurav Sharma named ‘Best Batsman’ and Jatin Rajput adjudged ‘Best Bowler’. Himanshu won the honours of ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Series’.
Rana asserted that such tournaments provided an excellent platform for young players to showcase their talent. He appreciated the performance of all the teams and congratulated the organising committee for conducting the event successfully.
The tournament concluded on a high note, celebrating sportsmanship, talent and community spirit in Mandi.
