Met forecasts wet spell in Himachal till June 7; issues yellow warning for thunderstorm

According to the weather office, light to moderate rain is expected across the state during the period, while isolated places may experience intense spells of rainfall between June 3 and June 5. Yellow alerts have been issued for these days.

Despite the wet spell, temperatures are expected to rise gradually. The Met Centre has forecast an increase of 2°C to 4°C in minimum temperatures and 4°C to 6°C in maximum temperatures over the next few days, resulting in warmer weather conditions across the state.

Light rainfall continued in many areas during the past 24 hours. Kalpa recorded the highest precipitation at 24 mm, followed by Shimla and Kufri with 12 mm each. Solan received 6.8 mm rainfall, while Dharamsala also witnessed light showers.

Minimum temperatures across the state rose by 2°C to 4°C and ranged between 4°C and 23°C. Maximum temperatures increased by 2°C to 9°C and ranged between 14°C and 37°C.

Among major stations, Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 23.6°C, Dharamsala 31°C, Kangra 32.6°C, Solan 30.5°C, Mandi 32.8°C, Sundernagar 32.5°C, Kufri 17.9°C, Kalpa 17.1°C, Nahan 29.9°C, Keylong 19.7°C, Chamba 30.3°C and Bhuntar 30.7°C.

Una remained the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 37.2°C, while Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest, recording a minimum temperature of 4.3°C.
