Man, son among 3 injured in Sirmaur highway attack, 1 accused held

The incident occurred around 8 pm when unidentified assailants allegedly attacked a father-son duo running a shop in Kolar along with another person present at the spot. Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in a vehicle, launched a violent assault and fled. All three injured persons sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital in a critical condition.

Following the incident, a team from Majra Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured were later referred to Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College in Nahan, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.

Sources said that the attackers were allegedly not locals and had reportedly arrived from Haryana in a white SUV (Scorpio) with prior planning. Unconfirmed reports suggest that sharp-edged weapons, including swords, were used in the attack.

The police are investigating all possible angles, though preliminary findings indicate that an old rivalry may have led to the violent incident. It is being reported that a dispute had taken place a few days earlier between a truck driver and a shop owner over overspeeding on the highway, and the attack is suspected to be linked to that altercation.

Superintendent of Police Nishchint Singh Negi said police are thoroughly probing the matter. He confirmed that the vehicle has been seized after the accused allegedly abandoned it near Suketi and escaped. One accused has been taken into custody, while raids are underway to arrest the remaining suspects involved in the case.
