Thanking voters for what he termed a “historic mandate,” Thakur said the results clearly show widespread dissatisfaction with the policies and unfulfilled promises of the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led administration.
“The massive support for the BJP is a clear verdict against the state government’s governance,” Thakur said, criticising the Chief Minister for downplaying the results. “In a democracy, the people are supreme. Instead of respecting the verdict, the Congress leadership is trying to minimise it.”
Highlighting the BJP’s wins, the Jaswan-Paragpur MLA noted that the party secured three of the four municipal corporations up for election — Mandi, Dharamshala, and Solan. He added that BJP-backed candidates also saw strong turnouts in the Zila Parishad, Block Development Committee (BDC), and panchayat polls.
Thakur stated that voter pushback was driven by critical issues, including rising unemployment, stalled development projects, financial mismanagement and unfulfilled promises to government employees.
