The dome market alone fetched Rs 1.09 crore, while the Phari market generated Rs 39.01 lakh through competitive bidding involving 13 participants. Other market segments have contributed a further Rs 22 lakh so far.
Traders have shown enthusiasm for the annual event, with a large number of business participants taking part in the auction process that began on Saturday afternoon. Traders from outside the state have already started arriving and setting up shops on allotted plots.
Preparations at the Dhalpur ground are in full swing, with the venue being decked up for the festival. The municipal council is also working on beautifying Mall Road in Dhalpur ahead of the celebrations.
The fair will begin with the arrival of the local deity Gouhri. Night cultural programmes are scheduled for three consecutive days at the Lal Chand Prarthi Kala Kendra, with the municipal council finalising the list of performers.
Kullu Executive Officer B R Negi said approximately Rs 1.70 crore has been raised so far, including the dome auction, and added that the fair will be celebrated with great fervour as preparations progress rapidly. He noted that, without any governing body and model code of conduct in place, the entire event is going to be an official affair.
Traders are already arranging merchandise including utensils, handloom products, crockery and other goods across rehri, phari and dome market sections. The three-day celebration is expected to be a vibrant cultural and commercial attraction for the region.
