Kullu mishap: Minister assures injured teachers, bereaved families of govt help

The minister assured the injured teachers that the state government and the Education Department would provide all possible support to help them cope with the difficult situation.

Thakur interacted with injured teachers Reena Kumari and Tara Devi and sought detailed information from doctors and hospital authorities regarding their treatment. He directed the hospital administration to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.

He also expressed grief over the death of four teachers in the accident and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He said the state government and the Education Department stood firmly with the families of the deceased.

The minister said the incident was deeply saddening and an irreparable loss to the entire education fraternity. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured teachers and for strength to their families. He also prayed for peace to the departed souls.

On May 2, four teachers were killed after a tree fell on the vehicle in which they were travelling near Ani in Kullu district. The accident occurred on the Shamsher-Gugra road near Bali-Kol when a pine tree, uprooted during a thunderstorm, crashed onto the vehicle. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which then plunged into a deep gorge.

Four women teachers — Sneh Lata, Banti Kaundal, Usha Kumari and Seema Azad — died on the spot. Three injured persons, Suresh Chand, Tara Devi and Reena Kumari, were rushed to a local hospital, from where they were referred to IGMC for further treatment.
