Kullu lawyer among four women elected to Himachal Bar Council

Shivani Sharma, Ritu Singh, Ranjana Patial and Suchitra Thakur were elected in the April 20 poll. Out of a total of 18 seats, four were reserved for women. The Supreme Court had recently mandated 30 per cent women representation in state bar bodies, following which Himachal Pradesh reserved four seats.

Following her victory, colleagues and local judges congratulated her at the Kullu District Court on Saturday. In her victory speech, she thanked fellow advocates and vowed to work for the welfare of the legal community.

Shivani holds a law degree from Himachal Pradesh University and has been practising at the District and Sessions Court, Kullu. Her election marks a significant milestone as she becomes one of the first women to join the Himachal Pradesh State Bar Council.
