IAS officer appreciates preservation of Sobha Singh’s artistic legacy

During his visit, he said, “Sobha Singh Art Gallery carries deep spiritual vibes and is also a place of great historical importance.”

Dr Jain described Sardar Sobha Singh as one of the greatest painters of India and undoubtedly the finest painter of Sikh history. Appreciating the efforts of the artist’s family in preserving his legacy, he remarked that the gallery and museum have been maintained exceptionally well.

Recalling his earlier association with the region, Dr Jain said he was extremely happy to revisit the gallery after nearly 20 years, when he had served as Palampur SDM.

Dr Jain displayed keen interest in the original paintings and rare artefacts displayed there. He admired the paintings based on spirituality and Indian heritage, including depictions of Guru Nanak Dev during his visit to Sindh, Lord Ram and Krishna.

Dr Hirday Paul Singh presented his book ‘Sobha Singh: Artist, Life & Legacy’ to Dr Jain and his wife Dr Aarushi Jain. Engineers of the Jal Shakti Department were also present during the visit.
