A total of 93,661 students appeared in the examination, out of which 78,150 cleared the exams successfully, while 8,433 students were placed in the compartment category.
Anmol of AVM Senior Secondary School, Pahra in Kangra district, emerged as the state topper by securing 699 marks out of 700, translating to 99.86 per cent. Interestingly, HPBOSE Chairman Dr Rajesh Sharma remarked that the student missed a perfect score by just one mark and jokingly said “it could be an evaluation error.”
Addressing a press conference after the declaration of results, Sharma attributed the improved performance to the academic and examination reforms introduced by the board in recent years. He said the coordinated efforts of teachers and board employees played a major role in ensuring better results as well as timely declaration of the examination outcome.
Of the total candidates, 48,097 were boys and 45,079 girls. Among them, 39,701 boys and 38,449 girls passed the examination. Girls once again outperformed boys in the merit list, with 83 girls featuring among the 107 students occupying top positions.
Three students jointly secured the second rank with 698 marks each. They include Roohani Dhiman and Abhinav Mehta of Government Senior Secondary School, Rapoh Missran in Una district, and Purnima Sharma of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Bilaspur.
The third rank was jointly bagged by Alisha Thakur of Oxford School, Kotli in Mandi district, and Ashwika Sharma of Neelam Public School, Bihru in Hamirpur district, with 697 marks each.
Four students shared the fourth position with 696 marks. They are Knish and Ishita Walia of Bharti Vidyapeeth Public Senior Secondary School, Baijnath in Kangra district, Asmita Sharma of Kid Buds Public Senior Secondary School, Panga in Hamirpur, and Shruti of Dhruva Adarsh Vidyalaya, Chhiachhi in Solan district.
Eight students jointly secured the fifth rank with 695 marks each. These include Sakshi Kumari of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Rohru; Deepika of Government Senior Secondary School, Tatta Pani; Harshita of Him Sarvodaya Senior Secondary School, Ghumarwin; Abhimanyu Patyal of RK Senior Secondary Public School, Ghandalwin; Diksha of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Hatgarh; Angel Sharma and Anshika Rana of Bharti Vidyapeeth Public Senior Secondary School, Baijnath; and Arushi of Kid Buds Public Senior Secondary School, Panga.
Sharma said the board introduced live monitoring during examinations this year, which helped curb cheating cases. He added that audio-visual monitoring at examination centres would be introduced from next year to further strengthen transparency.
The board also aligned its examination pattern with the Central Board of Secondary Education by increasing the number of objective-type questions to better prepare students for competitive examinations such as NEET and Joint Entrance Examination.
In a major relief for students, the board announced that under the National Education Policy, students placed in compartment and those seeking improvement in up to three subjects would be allowed to appear in a special examination in June without losing an academic year.
The results have been uploaded on the board’s official website. Students can apply online for re-evaluation and re-checking till May 25 by depositing fees of Rs 1,000 and Rs 800 respectively, informed Board Secretary Dr (Major) Vishal Sharma.
