It is reliably learnt that henceforth, chairmen and vice-chairmen, mostly political appointees, and the managing director, usually a bureaucrat, will no longer be entitled to these heavy discounts as perks attached to their posts. Earlier, all three were entitled to a room at any HPTDC hotel for a nominal Rs 100 per day and a 50% discount on food while in office. They also got 50% discount on room tariff and food even after demitting office, a benefit that has now been withdrawn.Similarly, members of the Board of Directors were entitled to 50% discount on accommodation for their son’s or daughter’s wedding, 40% discount on food, and 20% discount on transport facilities extended by HPTDC. These entitlements have also been withdrawn.Directors, both official and non-official, on HPTDC Board used to get free room and food at HPTDC hotels to attend Board meetings.
