Following the issuance of transfer orders by the Health Department on Monday, Tanda Medical College (TMC) principal Dr Milap Sharma relieved Dr Bhatnagar from his duties.Dr Bhatnagar has now been posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the office of the Director of Medical Education and Research, Himachal Pradesh, Shimla.The hospital’s Cardiology Department caters to patients from Kangra, Chamba, Una, Hamirpur and several other districts of the state.With Dr Bhatnagar’s departure, the department is temporarily left without any senior cardiologist on duty. Cardiologist Dr Naresh Rana is currently unwell, while Dr Ambudhar is pursuing a fellowship in the Netherlands and is expected to return on June 21. Another cardiologist, Dr Jitendra, has already moved to the private sector.The situation has sparked concerns among hundreds of heart patients, who depend on TMC for specialised treatment, diagnostic procedures and emergency cardiac care.
For many patients from remote areas, TMC remains the only affordable tertiary-care facility offering advanced cardiology services.Principal Dr Milap Sharma said efforts were already underway to bridge the gap.
