As per the state’s Meteorological Department, Palampur in Kangra district received 30 mm rainfall, Rampur in Shimla district received 29 mm, Rohru 25 mm, Sarahan 28.7 mm, Bilaspur 19.6 mm, Dharamsala 11.5 mm and Mandi 8 mm. Thunderstorms and lightning were also seen in Shimla, Kangra, Sundernagar and Bhuntar.
Heavy rain was also recorded in Shimla, the state’s capital, during which minimum temperature dipped by one degree, leading to a colder day.
As per the department, heavy rains will continue across the state throughout the day. The department has issued an orange weather alert for Shimla, Kullu, Solan, Mandi and Sirmaur districts, where a heavy spell of rain in isolated areas can be expected in the next few hours. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for Kangra, Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kinnaur, Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti districts, where light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms and lightning in isolated places can be expected.
The department has forecasted continuous rainfall for the state till May 5.
Minimum temperature in Shimla was 12.5°C, Dharamsala 17.6°C, Manali 8.7°C, Bhuntar 11.5°C, Solan 12°C, Nahan 14.1°C, Una 18°C, Mandi 15°C, Kangra 16.7°C and Paonta Sahib 22°C.
