According to the rankings, Dr Kandwal stands at the 1,874th position globally in the field of communication technologies and diabetes research, bringing laurels to Himachal Pradesh and the country.
Internationally recognised for his pioneering work in electronics, diabetes research and semiconductor chips, Dr Kandwal is currently serving as Senior Associate Professor at University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.
He completed his MSc in Physics from Himachal Pradesh University in 2009 and obtained his PhD in Physics from Jaypee University of Information Technology in 2014. During his doctoral research, he also worked as a research scientist on a project under Defence Research and Development Organisation.
Over the years, he has worked in several leading universities and research institutions across South Korea, China, Germany, Thailand, Japan and the United Kingdom, establishing a strong international academic profile.
The Stanford ranking is regarded among the world’s most respected scientific assessments and evaluates researchers on the basis of research impact, scholarly productivity, citations and global academic influence.
A native of Daroh (Gadiyara) village in the Palampur subdivision of Kangra district, Dr Kandwal is the son of retired HPPWD Section Officer Bikram Singh Choudhary. His remarkable achievement has brought pride to his family and the entire region.
