Himachal rolls out Rs 1,500 monthly aid for women under Indira Sukh Samman Yojna

The decision was taken by the Cabinet, which met in Shimla on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister (CM) Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

In another significant decision, the Cabinet also approved enhancing the retirement age of doctors working as professors in medical colleges from 62 years to 63 years. Approval was also given for filling 105 posts, each of resident doctors and senior residents, in various medical colleges.

Sources said the Cabinet also approved a hike of Rs 500 in the honorarium of mid-day meal workers and SMC multi-task workers. Approval was also given for increasing the salary of panchayat chowkidars by Rs 500 and that of craft teachers by Rs 1,000.

The Cabinet gave its nod for filling 1,500 teacher posts, specifically to meet requirements in government CBSE schools. It was also decided to increase the number of government schools following the CBSE curriculum from 147 to 300 to impart quality education to students across the state.

‘In fulfilment of the budget announcement made by the CM, the Cabinet approved a reduction in royalty on fisheries from seven per cent to one per cent. The Cabinet also approved the acquisition of 8,000 bighas of land for setting up the Him Chandigarh township, which will be undertaken by the Himachal Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA).

The Cabinet also approved the opening of a sub-divisional magistrate’s office at Pragpur in Kangra district.

Approval was also given for the appointment of 500 junior office assistants (JOA-IT) and 94 ITI craft instructors. As per the Cabinet decision, a one-time relaxation will be given to vehicles without registration to enable them to get registered. It was also decided to shift the office of the Engineer-in-Chief, Shah Nehar, from Mandi to Fatehpur in Kangra district.

The Cabinet also approved allowing shops to remain open 24 hours a day without any restrictions.
