Following scrutiny, the number of valid candidates has been reduced to 1,394, who are now in the electoral fray. The process will move to the next stage on May 6, when candidates can withdraw their nominations, after which the final list of contestants will be published and election symbols allotted.
In several wards, only a single nomination was received, including ward six in Banjar Nagar Panchayat (Kullu), ward one in Rewalsar (Mandi), wards one and seven in Karsog (Mandi), wards two and six in Nerwa (Shimla), and ward two in Chirgaon (Shimla). Meanwhile, four nomination papers were filed in Rohru Nagar Parishad on the opening day of nominations.
