The panel includes state general secretary Sanjeev Katwal, vice-presidents Balbir Verma and Rashim Sood, state secretary Vandana Yogi, state president Rattan Pal, Vidhan Sabha nominee Rajesh Kashyap, and Solan mandal president Shailendra Gupta. These leaders have been tasked with holding direct meeting with the dissidents and offering assurances aimed at resolving their concerns.
In a bid to ensure reconciliation, the party has reportedly gone beyond routine persuasion, offering incentives such as significant organisational roles and potential government positions if the BJP returns to power in the next Assembly poll. Some rebels have also been assured nominations as councillors.
Despite these efforts, the situation remains fluid. While the BJP leadership is optimistic about a positive outcome, a few rebels appear determined to stay in the contest, unconvinced by the promises made so far. The rebels include Shanta and Ramesh Kumar (Ward 2), Rajni and Gaurav (Ward 3), Vivek Dobhal (Ward 10), Kanta (Ward 1), Suman Sahni (Ward 9), Mukesh (Ward 7), and Jagdish Kumar (Ward 13).
Their continued presence could dent the BJP’s electoral prospects, particularly as the party is aiming to secure a clear majority of nine seats after narrowly missing it in the 2021 elections. Dr Bindal expressed confidence that the grievances have been addressed and said he expects the rebels to withdraw their nominations soon.
