Himachal: Mata Chintpurni Trust vehicle withdrawn from police use in Una

The move follows directions from the Himachal Pradesh High Court in a recent case, instructing the Una district administration to return all vehicles purchased from the temple trust or donated by devotees.

The vehicle (HP 19F 3276) had been donated by a devotee to the temple deity two years ago. It was subsequently handed over to the district police and placed at the disposal of the Mata Chintpurni police station for maintaining law and order in the area.

The case had been filed by a former trustee, alleging misuse of funds of the Mata Chintpurni Trust by the administration. The High Court had given five days for compliance with its order. Following its return, the vehicle has been parked at the Yatri Niwas complex by the trust authorities.

The Amb DSP said the Superintendent of Police had assured that a separate vehicle would be provided for law and order duties at the Mata Chintpurni police station.
