Himachal Governor pays obeisance at Baijnath temple

During the visit, temple authorities and local priests briefed the Governor about the rich history and religious significance of the temple.

The Governor spent nearly half an hour in the temple complex and offered prayers for peace, prosperity and the well-being of the people of the state. He also interacted with temple officials and appreciated the architectural heritage and spiritual importance of the centuries-old shrine.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Baijnath temple is regarded as one of the most revered shrines in North India. The temple is known for its ancient stone carvings and distinctive Nagara-style architecture. According to local belief and religious traditions, the Baijnath temple is considered among the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country and attracts thousands of devotees and tourists from across India every year.

Temple authorities informed the Governor that the shrine, built in the 13th century, holds immense archaeological and religious significance.

Expressing admiration for the preservation of the temple, the Governor stressed the need to protect the cultural and spiritual heritage of Himachal Pradesh.

Deputy Commissioner Kangra Hem Raj Berba, Superintendent of Police Kangra Ashok Rattan, SDM Baijnath Sankalp Gautam, DSP Sandeep Sharma and officers from various departments were present during the visit. Members of the temple management committee were also in attendance.
