According to information, the girl was a resident of Bangala Colony in Ward No. 9 of Paonta Sahib. Her family said she had gone missing from home around 5 pm. After searching for her for several hours without success, they informed the police.
Police teams subsequently launched a search operation in the surrounding areas, including along the Yamuna river. During the operation, the girl’s body was recovered from the river.
The body has been sent to Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, for postmortem examination and forensic analysis. Police said the investigation is being carried out from all possible angles.
The family has demanded a detailed inquiry into the incident. Local residents and relatives also submitted a memorandum to the SDM, Paonta Sahib, seeking a fair and impartial investigation.
Confirming the incident, SP Nishchint Singh Negi said no visible injury marks or signs of foul play had been found on the body so far. He said the police had registered a case and were examining CCTV footage from nearby areas as part of the investigation.
Police officials added that, besides the postmortem examination, X-ray imaging of the body was also being conducted to ensure that all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined.
