The State’s Meteorological Centre has issued an orange weather alert for Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra and Chamba districts for May 28, resulting in heavy spell of rain accompanied with hailstorm, lightning and gusty winds in isolated places of these districts. The centre has also issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning as well as for heat wave conditions in Solan, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una districts for May 28.

The centre has predicted continuous precipitation for the state till May 30, after which weather will remain clear in plains and low hills till June 2, with precipitation continuing in mid and high hills of the state. During this period, minimum temperatures are very likely to fall by 2°C to 3°C while maximum temperatures will drop by 2°C to 6°C in many places of the state.

Meanwhile, the weather was mostly dry across the state during the last 24 hours. Minimum temperatures across the state were normal and ranged between 4°C to 24°C. However, maximum temperatures were 2°C to 4°C above normal and ranged between 18°C to 44°C.

Maximum temperature in Shimla was 29°C, Dharamsala 35°C, Kangra 38.8°C, Mandi 38.6°C, Sundernagar 39.3°C, Kufri 24.1°C, Kalpa 25.4°C, Keylong 20.9°C, Nahan 36.6°C and Bhuntar 36°C.

With 44°C minimum temperatures, Una was the hottest place in the state while Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest as it recorded 4.6°C minimum temperature.
