Dr Rana said that the hospital, established in a rural area with the support of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, was well-positioned to provide specialised healthcare services on the doorstep of local residents.
He said that the DEXA machine scans the hip and spine to measure bone density and strength, helping doctors predict fracture risk and monitor the effectiveness of treatment. Some advanced systems can also analyse body fat and lean muscle mass, offering a more comprehensive health assessment.
Dr Rana said that osteoporosis commonly affects women after menopause but can also occur in men and, in rare cases, children. “The condition leads to gradual bone loss and structural changes, making bones thinner, more fragile and more prone to fractures. DEXA scans are also useful in tracking the progress of treatment for osteoporosis and other conditions causing bone deterioration,” he added.
Deputy Commissioner Gandharva Rathore, who inaugurated the facility, said the installation would significantly benefit people in rural areas by improving access to advanced diagnostic services. She also commended Dr Rana’s efforts, describing the initiative as a commendable example of service in bringing quality healthcare facilities to remote parts of the district.
