The foundation adopted the school in September 2024 on the initiative of local resident and teacher Kuldeep Singh, who approached its director, Akil Bakshi. After inspecting the campus, Bakshi devised a plan to upgrade infrastructure and academic standards, with work beginning within a month.
As part of the intervention, the Foundation provided two outsourced teachers – one for language and another for pre-primary classes – while also setting up a library and computer-printer facilities to improve learning outcomes.
Originally established in 1969 and upgraded to a middle school in 2016, the institution has since seen extensive improvements. Two new classrooms for primary classes have been constructed, two dilapidated rooms repaired, and three incomplete rooms finished with flooring, plastering, painting and whitewashing.
Parents whose children enrolled last year say they have witnessed a marked improvement in the school since its adoption.
Bakshi said that the foundation had so far spent around Rs 12 lakh on infrastructure and academic development, with plans to add furniture, benches and swings for younger children. He added that inadequate facilities and vacant teaching posts had long driven declining enrolment in government schools, pushing parents towards private institutions. Strengthening basic infrastructure was key to restoring public trust and improving student intake, he asserted.
