Development in Nurpur continued despite Congress rule in hill state, says MP Bhardwaj

Addressing a press conference, Bhardwaj said he had allocated nearly Rs 35 lakh over the past two years, while local MLA Ranbir Singh Nikka had contributed around Rs 65 lakh from his Local Area Development Fund (LADF) for civic development works in the town.

Bhardwaj, who belongs to the Nurpur Assembly constituency, said BJP-backed candidates would contest the upcoming MC elections solely on the issue of development.

He asserted that if BJP-supported candidates formed the new council after the May 17 elections, the pace of development in the civic body would be accelerated further in line with the aspirations of local residents.

The MP also revealed plans to promote the historic Brijraj Swami Temple on Himachal’s tourism map and said he had already taken up the matter with the Centre.

Targeting the Congress, Bhardwaj accused the party of being “anti-development”. He alleged that some anti-development elements had removed the inaugural plaque installed during the inauguration of the reconstructed market road in Dunga Bazaar two months ago, but the police had failed to take action despite registration of an FIR.

Expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the civic polls, the MP said the electorate would give a befitting reply to the Congress in the upcoming MC elections.
