DC reviews prep as Dharamsala gears up for IPL matches

To review arrangements, Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa chaired a high-level meeting at the stadium on Saturday, bringing together officials from multiple departments. The focus was on ensuring a safe, efficient and high-quality experience for both players and spectators.

Key issues discussed included law and order, traffic regulation, parking, healthcare facilities, electricity and water supply, road maintenance, sanitation and fire safety. The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to complete preparations within stipulated timelines.

Emphasising security, he instructed the police to implement comprehensive crowd management and safety measures. The Public Works Department was asked to expedite road repairs, while municipal authorities were directed to strengthen sanitation efforts across the town and surrounding areas. Measures to improve street lighting and install clear directional signage for visitors are also being prioritised, the DC said.

Emergency preparedness formed a crucial part of the review. The Fire Department was tasked with conducting detailed safety inspections, while the Health Department will set up dedicated medical facilities, including a special ward with doctors on standby. Mock drills are scheduled for April 29 and 30 and May 5 to enhance disaster response readiness.

Senior officials, along with representatives of the HPCA, attended the meeting and reiterated their commitment to ensuring the successful hosting of the IPL matches in Dharamsala.
