Butail, while addressing party workers, local residents and supporters during an election meeting in Palampur, claimed that the Congress would win more than 12 seats in the Municipal Corporation elections and also the Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts. He added that the party was receiving an overwhelming support from the public because of development works undertaken by the Congress-led Municipal Corporation during the last tenure.
The MLA said that the Congress government and the local municipal representatives had focused on strengthening civic infrastructure and improving basic amenities in the city. He added that development works carried out in various wards would play a decisive role in the elections and help the party retain public confidence and the control over the Municipal Corporation.
Butail also unveiled an ambitious road map for the next five years, promising planned and sustainable urban development in Palampur. He said that the Congress would prepare and implement a comprehensive master plan for the city to ensure systematic growth and prevent unregulated urban expansion. He added that Palampur, being one of the fastest-growing city of Himachal Pradesh, required long-term planning to preserve its natural beauty and improve civic facilities.
He said that the Congress was committed to developing Palampur in a planned manner with zero tolerance towards illegal constructions. He warned that unauthorised constructions and haphazard development were posing serious challenges to the infrastructure and the environment of the city. He added that strict monitoring mechanisms would be introduced to check illegal construction activities and ensure that building regulations were implemented effectively.
Butail said that traffic congestion was one of the major concerns in Palampur and the widening of internal roads would be taken up on priority in the coming years. He added that better road connectivity in the city was essential for smooth traffic movement and public convenience.
He assured local residents that the two ongoing parking projects in Palampur would be completed at the earliest to address the growing problem.
