Chauhar valley school faces teacher shortage

According to members of the School Management Committee (SMC) and local villagers, Bhavan, Dhani Devi, Durgi Devi and Nima Devi, several key posts including Principal and lecturers in subjects such as Hindi, history, English, informatics practices and political science remain vacant. In addition, the post of art teacher is also vacant for a long time, severely affecting the quality of education in the school.

They allege that due to the lack of teachers, students are forced to travel long distances on foot, often crossing forests and streams, to attend classes in other schools. They say this has created serious challenges for children in the area, particularly given the difficult terrain of the region.

A delegation of local residents and SMC members recently met the Deputy Director of Higher Education in Mandi to raise the issue. They submitted a formal request highlighting the urgent need for deputing teachers to the school.

Deputy Director (Higher Education) Yashvir Dhiman assured the delegation that the matter would be taken up with higher authorities in Shimla and efforts would be made to resolve the issue at the earliest.
