Kapoor said that the BJP had fielded 13 new faces for the elections, underlining its strategy to bring in fresh leadership and give opportunities to grassroots-level workers. He added that the candidates had been selected after careful consideration, keeping in mind their connect with the public and commitment to development.
Kapoor said that the party’s primary focus would be the overall development of Palampur. He emphasised the need to strengthen civic infrastructure, improve basic amenities and ensure an efficient delivery of public services. He added that the BJP was committed to addressing key urban issues and accelerating development works in the city.
Kapoor alleged that several irregularities had taken place in the Congress-ruled Municipal Corporation during the past five years. He said that if the BJP comes to power, it would order a thorough probe into these irregularities to bring out the truth and ensure accountability. He added that the Congress was today unable to face voters since it had failed to fulfil the promises made to people. “Neither it could give Rs 1,500 to every woman nor provide job to five lakh youths, rather it enhanced the fuel prices in the state immediately after taking over the reins,” he alleged.
Kapoor said that there was rampant corruption in the state, the Chief Minister was helpless to act against corrupt officers. “There is need for transparency in the functioning of the Municipal Corporation. If voted to power, we will ensure that every wrongdoing is investigated and action is taken accordingly,” he added.
