The BJP pledged to develop memorial gateways dedicated to martyrs at the four entry points of Palampur and work with taxi operators, hotel owners and local stakeholders to develop a dedicated tourism circuit for visitors. The vision document emphasised on women’s safety and law enforcement with the help of CCTV cameras at important locations in all municipal wards. According to the proposal, the surveillance system would help maintain round-the-clock monitoring in the city.
In the energy sector, the BJP promised to establish a master solar plant to ensure uninterrupted operation of streetlights within the municipal corporation limits. The party also announced plans to shift electricity wires underground to improve the city’s aesthetics and reduce hazards.
Another major promise included setting up of a dedicated municipal architect system on the lines of the Shimla and Dharamsala municipal corporations to simplify the process of building map approval. The party claimed that this would reduce delays and provide relief from complicated Town and Country Planning procedures. The party urged voters to support BJP candidates in the municipal elections scheduled for May 17. Sullah MLA Vipin Singh Parmar, Kangra MP Rajiv Bhardwaj, Rajya Sabha Member Sikinder Kumar and Trilok Kapoor were present on the occasion.
