Holding empty earthen pots symbolising the water crisis, BJP women workers led by state vice-president Rashim Dhar Sood raised slogans against the Congress government and demanded its ouster.
The protesters alleged that water scarcity had become a perennial problem in Solan and accused the state government of failing to address the concerns of residents. They said the irregular supply of such a basic civic amenity reflected the government’s lack of seriousness towards issues affecting the common man.
With the civic body elections approaching, the issue of erratic water supply has emerged as a major concern in the city. The BJP has been attempting to highlight the inability of the Congress government to ensure regular water supply in Solan.
Referring to recent complaints of muddy water supply in parts of the city earlier this week, BJP leaders alleged that the Congress had turned a blind eye to the hardships faced by residents.
The Mahila Morcha workers also highlighted the difficulties faced by women in managing household chores amid the ongoing water shortage. During the protest, the women activists smashed empty earthen pots to symbolically depict the government’s failure to resolve the long-standing issue and raised slogans against the state government.
